A long search for a missing suburban man ended in tragedy this week.
Authorities confirmed that a body pulled from the Fox River on Tuesday is 53-year-old Ulises “Miguel” Segura Dorantes.
Fire crews responded to the river near the 100 block of North Center Street in South Elgin.
The call came in around 5:42 p.m. regarding a person spotted in the water near the dam.
The Elgin Fire Department assisted South Elgin crews in recovering the man from the river.
The Kane County Coroner’s Office performed an autopsy on Thursday morning.
Officials officially identified the man and notified his grieving family.
The coroner stated the preliminary cause of death is drowning.
Toxicology tests are currently being processed to provide more details.
Segura Dorantes had been missing since November 29, 2025.
He was last seen in the area of State Street and National Street in Elgin.
At the time he vanished, family members told police they did not believe he was in immediate danger.
