Chicago police detectives are hunting for three armed suspects who held up a local commercial business at gunpoint in the Roseland community early Monday morning.
The armed robbery occurred at approximately 5:36 a.m. on July 13, 2026, at the Dunkin’ Donuts located near the intersection of East 103rd Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
According to investigative reports from the Chicago Police Department, three men carrying handguns entered the restaurant together during the early morning hours.
The armed trio walked directly into the main lobby and aggressively approached the front counter where the primary cash register sits.
One of the unidentified robbers went completely around the service counter to gain direct access to the restaurant’s secured register area.
The suspect quickly manipulated the machine and grabbed an undisclosed amount of paper currency straight from the register tray. Chicago Crime Chaser reported.
After securing the cash, all three suspects rushed out of the front doors of the building to make their escape.
Witnesses on the South Side block observed the three men piling into a black sport-utility vehicle parked just outside the business.
The driver of the black SUV accelerated rapidly away from the scene, heading down the commercial strip immediately after the robbery took place.
Store management confirmed that no employees or customers suffered physical injuries during the brief encounter inside the restaurant.
Calumet Area Detectives arrived at the scene shortly after the call to interview shaken workers and secure the store’s internal security camera footage.
Local business owners along the King Drive corridor expressed immediate concern regarding commercial safety for early morning operations following the incident.
Community business groups are currently urging nearby store managers to review their perimeter security setups and ensure all exterior lighting remains fully functional.
The Chicago Police Department advises area businesses to keep minimal cash in active registers during overnight and early morning shifts to deter similar robberies.
Patrol officers have increased their presence along the 103rd Street business corridor to provide extra security for early morning commuters and retail workers.
Investigators have not yet released detailed physical descriptions of the three male suspects or the specific license plate of the getaway SUV.
Authorities request that anyone who observed a black sport-utility vehicle idling near 103rd Street and King Drive around 5:30 a.m. call the Calumet Area Detective Division at (312) 747-8271.
