Gunfire erupted on the South Side late Sunday night, leaving two men wounded in a violent attack that spilled into the streets of Auburn Gresham.
The shooting broke out around 10:15 p.m. near the busy intersection of 87th and State streets.

An 18-year-old and a 49-year-old were inside a vehicle when the bullets started flying.

With the car under fire, the driver scrambled for safety, eventually pulling over nearly two miles away on the 87th block of South Ada Street.
Neighbors nearby heard the chaos and immediately rushed out to help.
Terrified residents, some of whom provided first aid, worked to stabilize one of the victims before the sirens arrived.
Chicago police swarmed the scene on Ada Street to find a dark SUV sitting with two flat tires.
Evidence markers littered the block as officers taped off the area.
Paramedics rushed both victims to local hospitals, including Advocate Christ Medical Center.
Both men are currently listed in good condition, a lucky outcome in a city where such shootings often end in tragedy.
Investigators are now working to piece together a motive for the attack.
No suspects are in custody, and the shooter remains on the run.
