Community Safety Awareness
1. Always maintain direct line-of-sight supervision of young children when playing near any body of water.
2. Install secure fencing or self-locking gates around residential retention ponds if they are accessible to young children.
3. Teach children to alert an adult immediately if a playmate wanders away or approaches a body of water.
4. Consider enrolling children in formal water safety and swimming lessons to provide them with essential survival skills.
5. If a child goes missing, call 911 immediately to trigger an emergency response rather than searching alone.
