Recent History

The East Garfield Park neighborhood has seen a troubling rise in daylight violence recently.

This shooting on South Springfield Avenue occurred near busy residential blocks.

In late 2025, several other shootings were reported within a few blocks of this location.

Community leaders have expressed concern over the safety of residents during morning hours.

The West Side of Chicago continues to struggle with high rates of gun-related crimes.

Police patrols have increased in the area, yet arrests remain low for these violent incidents.

Residents are calling for more resources to address the root causes of the violence.
