A 36-year-old man faces attempted murder and arson charges following a violent morning attack on Chicago’s West Side.
Police arrested Jay Jordan early Tuesday morning in the Austin neighborhood.
The incident occurred in the 5800 block of West Division Street.
Authorities say Jordan started a fire at a residence around 4:25 a.m.
Moments later, he allegedly stabbed a 32-year-old man.
The victim suffered serious injuries during the assault.
Officers from the 25th District responded to the scene within minutes.
They located Jordan on the same block and took him into custody at 4:40 a.m.
Prosecutors charged Jordan with one felony count of first-degree attempted murder.
He also faces one felony count of aggravated arson with a person present.
Jordan is scheduled for a detention hearing today at the Leighton Criminal Court Building.
No motive for the fire or the stabbing has been released by investigators.
