Area Two detectives are searching for at least one gunman who fired through a residential window, killing a mother of four and injuring a teenager inside a Greater Grand Crossing home.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:50 a.m. in the 7600 block of South Eberhart Avenue.
Chicago police officers responded to the South Side residential block immediately after receiving reports of multiple gunshots.

Responding officers discovered two victims suffering from gunshot wounds inside the property.
Investigators confirmed that a 37-year-old woman sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her body and died at the scene.
Family members identified the deceased woman as Latoya Norals, a long-time neighborhood resident.

A 17-year-old male also sustained a gunshot wound to his left hand during the attack.
Paramedics transported the wounded teenager to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where medical staff listed him in good condition.
Police records indicate that the gunfire originated from outside the house and traveled directly through a window.

Family members stated that Norals was inside the home with three of her children and a teenage friend of her daughter when the shooting started.
Witnesses told relatives that a vehicle drove up to the Eberhart Avenue residence before an occupant opened fire on the building.
Norals briefly walked upstairs to check on the household before returning downstairs to the main floor.

A second volley of gunfire erupted moments later, striking both Norals and the 17-year-old family friend.
The teenager is expected to make a full recovery from his injury.
The sudden death has left the Chatham and Greater Grand Crossing communities mourning a dedicated mother.
Norals recently celebrated the high school graduation of two of her teenage daughters from Chatham Academy Charter High School.
She also leaves behind 12-year-old twin boys, one of whom was away from the home during the incident.
Norals worked in the food service department at the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab in downtown Chicago to support her household.
