Chicago police are investigating a savage attack on a 33-year-old woman and her 9-year-old son on the Far South Side near a local elementary school. Both victims were severely beaten and hospitalized in serious condition.

The assault happened Monday afternoon near 106th Street and Bensley Avenue, right down the street from Orville T. Bright Elementary School.

Viral Video Captures Brutality

The attack gained immediate attention after a video of the incident was shared tens of thousands of times across social media.

The disturbing footage shows the mother being repeatedly punched until she falls to the pavement, where the assault continues.

Chicago Police confirmed the woman and her son were taken to Trinity Hospital with serious injuries.

Motive Revealed: Kids Followed Victims from School

According to local crime chaser reports, the attack was not random. Sources indicate the mother and her two children were followed after she picked them up from school.

The violence reportedly erupted because a group of elementary-aged kids were trying to start a fight with the mother’s son.

The group caught up to the family and began jumping the mother and son while they were on the ground. The mother is also reported to suffer from Sickle Cell Disease.

The community advocate team is aware of the situation and has reportedly identified some of the youth involved, vowing to confront the situation alongside the family at the school.

Community Demands Answers

The widespread video and news of the attack led to a large crowd gathering outside Orville T. Bright Elementary on Tuesday morning, demanding justice and answers from authorities.

Chicago Public Schools has not yet issued a public comment regarding the incident.

No arrests have been made, and Area Two detectives are leading the ongoing investigation. The community and the victim’s family are demanding all those involved be held fully accountable for the heinous attack.
