Best NYSC Camps

These are the best NYSC Camps, based on ranking across articles like this one and by the facilities in each of them.

1. Ogun State Orientation Camp

The Ogun State Orientation Camp was founded on the 3rd of February, 1976, and is reputed to have the best NYSC camp. All the facilities and equipment are brand new and function properly.

In every room at the camp, there are working sockets you can use to charge your devices. The tiled and well-ventilated rooms house up to 45 corp members and are neat. There is also an ATM where you can withdraw cash at specific times.

Getting to Ogun State Orientation Camp is very easy. If you are coming by flight, then stop at Lagos. From Lagos take a direct bus to Sagamu. When you get to the last bus stop take a bike to the orientation camp. For those travelling by bus, find your way to Abeokuta, then Sagamu, and onward to the camp.

Address: Ikenne Road, Sagamu Local Government Area, Sagamu, Ogun State.

2. Lagos State Orientation Camp

Every graduate wants to be an Eko Kopa which is not surprising as Lagos Orientation Camp is where you’ll have the most fun and meet the finest people in Nigeria.   Additionally, Lagos is a Metropolitan city and has lots of firms and industries with jobs that pay handsomely.

Lagos Camp is properly maintained and kept in good condition. Besides regular camp facilities, the place also has a relaxation centre and clinic which corpers say are the best.

The hostel itself is a large architectural masterpiece and hosts male and female corps, security forces, and NYSC officers. Every room has 15-16 bunks, housing 30-32 occupants.

If you are coming by flight, stop at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, and take a cab to orientation camp at Iyana Ipaja or Agege. Tell the driver to stop you at the NYSC orientation camp. By bus stop at the park in Lagos then take the cab to the camp.

Address:  Iyana Ipaja, Agege, Lagos State.

3. Federal Capital Territory Orientation Camp

It does not come as a surprise that Abuja has the best NYSC camp in Nigeria. The buildings at the Federal Capital Territory Orientation Camp are massive and in great condition, plus the camp is secured by a trustworthy security team.

The hostel rooms are comfortable, have proper restrooms, and can house up to 20 -25 service members.

If you are going to the orientation camp, stop at Jabi Park in Abuja then take a cab or keke to Wuse market before boarding a bus to Kubwa village. Kubwa market is the last bus stop. The NYSC camp is just a short distance from the market. You can board a bike.

Address: Kubwa, Bwari Area Council, FCT, Abuja.

4. Osun State Orientation Camp

Osun State Orientation Camp is where to go if you like to have fun. Camp parties are occasionally hosted and there is a swimming pool which you can pay to use. Osun camp has four main event venues – the pool, Western Sun International Hotel: Multipurpose Hall, and Kudirat Hall.

The dormitory rooms at Osun State NYSC Camp can hold close to 20-30 corp members. Ibadan should be your destination if you are flying from other parts of the country. From Ibadan, take a bus to Osogbo, and another bus to Ede. Take a bike directly to the camp when you reach Ede. Corpers travelling by road, board a bus to Ile-Ife, or Ilesha, Osun state, and alight at Gbogan. Another bus from Gbogan should lead you to the camp.

Address: Aisu College Hospital Road, Ede North Local Government Area, Ede, Osun State.

5. Plateau State Orientation Camp

Plateau State Orientation Camp is another best NYSC camp. It assures you of an endless supply of good food. Corpers often get meals from the market at a cheap price, especially Irish potatoes. It is that way because farmers in the Mangu Local Government grow these vegetables.

The facilities in this camp are excellent, the rooms are tiled and can take 30-35 corpers per room. The NYSC camp hall is cutting-edge with functioning fans and a speaker. When you complete the 3-week orientation training, you may visit some of the historical and relaxation sites at the state.

Historic sites to see include Kerang volcanic rock (the source of Swan water, Ampidong Crater Lake (a unique lake in Africa), and the Panyam fish farm.

If you are visiting from other parts of the country, take a bus going to Jos, from Jos to Mangu where the orientation camp is located. It is a 45-minute to 1-hour journey, depending on how good the road is.

Address: Mangu, Mangu Local Government Area, Plateau State.

6. Anambra State Orientation Camp

The structures at the Anambra State Orientation Camp are still new as the program just relocated to a new destination after using a rented space in a school for 28  years. Everything here is in great condition.

Anambra camp hostels have 100-120 rooms that take 20-25 corpers. They are spacious and cosy for everyone, and the toilet facilities are of a high standard. The security team parades the camp occasionally to ensure that all is in order.

Corpers visiting from Onitsha can take a cab to Awka, then alight at Amawbia Junction and take a Keke to Governor Lodge or Nibo Junction. Enter another keke to the NYSC camp. People coming from Akwa, Dike Park, or Nnamdi Azikiwe Road, enter the bus going to Umunze to be dropped at the NYSC camp situated at Umuawulu.

Address: Mbaukwu/Umuawulu , Awka South LGA.

7. Akwa Ibom State Orientation Camp

The Akwa Ibom State Orientation Camp was recently renovated, which means all of its facilities are in top shape. The rooms are well-painted and spacious, and the toilets have running water. The NYSC officials present at the Camp ensure that everywhere is secure and corpers are protected.

Facilities at the camp are functional and fields are well-trimmed. The campgrounds have structures and facilities for corp members’ paramilitary drills, lodges, lecture halls, and an open area for sports and assembly.

If you are coming by air, the orientation camp is close to the Airport. so you’ll get there quickly.  From AKTC Park in Uyo, you may get a direct bus to the camp. If you don’t see any, from AKTC park, take Keke to Plaza, walk down Oron road, and ask for where to board Nsit Atai buses. Tell the Nsit Atai bus driver that you’ll stop at NYSC Camp.

Address: Ikot Itie Udung, Nsit Atai Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State.
