A 37-year-old man is in custody after allegedly calling emergency dispatchers early Tuesday morning to report that he had killed his wife in their suburban apartment.
The incident began at approximately 4:37 a.m. when Hector Luvianos-Barrera called 911.
During the call, he told dispatchers he had killed his wife at an apartment located in the 100 block of Church Street in Batavia.
Batavia police officers arrived on the scene and found Luvianos-Barrera standing outside the building.
He was taken into custody immediately without any further incident.
When officers entered the apartment, they discovered a woman suffering from “significant, life-threatening injuries.”
Despite efforts to save her, the woman died at the scene.
While police have not released the specific nature of her injuries, investigators confirmed the death was a domestic-related incident.
They emphasized that there is no ongoing threat to the community.
Hector Luvianos-Barrera has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
He was transported to the Kane County Jail, where he is awaiting a detention hearing.
The identity of the victim has not been released yet, as authorities are still working to notify her family.
An autopsy will be performed by the Kane County Coroner’s Office to determine the official cause of death.
The Batavia Police Department is still investigating the case.
