A multi-agency manhunt ended Friday when authorities captured a twenty-eight-year-old man wanted for a fatal shooting that occurred nearly eight years ago on the Southwest Side.

Cruz was driving his black Chrysler minivan eastbound in the 2700 block of West 58th Street at 10:43 p.m. when unexpected gunfire erupted.
Multiple bullets pierced the vehicle, shattering the back window entirely and causing Cruz to lose control of the steering wheel.
The minivan veered off the roadway and crashed into a parked car along the curb.
First responders found Cruz inside the vehicle suffering from a critical gunshot wound to his left shoulder.
Ambulance crews rushed the young man to the University of Chicago Medical Center for emergency treatment.
Doctors pronounced Cruz dead at 11:23 p.m., less than an hour after the shooting occurred.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office later ruled the death a homicide.
