A morning fire on Chicago’s West Side has left six people injured, including four children.
The Chicago Fire Department (CFD) reported that four of the victims are currently in critical condition.
The blaze broke out on Thursday morning on the third floor of an apartment building located in the 5600-block of West Adams Street.
Firefighters arrived to find flames contained to a single unit, but the impact on the residents was severe.
According to CFD officials, paramedics transported six people to local hospitals.
The victims include:

Two adults in critical condition.

Two children in critical condition.

Two additional children with non-life-threatening injuries.
Fire crews successfully prevented the flames from spreading to other apartments in the building.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and authorities have not yet released the names of those involved.
