A 17-year-old boy lost his life Saturday night following a shooting on Chicago’s North Side.
The Chicago Police Department reported the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. in the North Park neighborhood.
Officers responded to the 6100 block of North Kimball Avenue after receiving reports of gunfire.
According to investigators, the teenager was riding in a car when the violence erupted.
A person inside a red vehicle opened fire on the boy’s car.
The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the face during the attack.
Emergency responders quickly transported the teen to St. Francis Hospital.
Medical staff pronounced him dead shortly after his arrival.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet released the victim’s name.
Detectives from Area Five are currently leading the investigation into the homicide.
As of Sunday morning, police confirmed that no one is in custody for the shooting.
