Chicago police are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred on the city’s West Side.
The incident took place on the morning of Thursday, January 8, 2026.
Officers responded to calls in the 300-block of South Springfield Avenue.
The shooting happened at approximately 8:13 a.m.
Upon arrival, police found a 38-year-old man lying in the street.
The victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds to his body.
Emergency responders rushed him to Mt. Sinai Hospital for treatment.
Medical staff later pronounced him dead at the hospital.
Authorities have now identified the victim as Tramaine Antonio Hawkins.

Family members are mourning the loss of the 38-year-old man.
A local funeral home shared a message asking for prayers and support for the Hawkins family.
No suspects have been arrested in connection with the shooting.
