The Minister of Works, Engr. David Umahi, has inspected the Third Mainland Bridge and other major roads in Lagos State to identify the root cause of recent flooding and traffic issues.
The inspection follows a period of heavy rainfall that has caused significant traffic congestion across the city.
The minister’s visit is part of a federal government effort to address the challenges caused by urban flooding.
According to a statement obtained by BestLagos.ng, the inspection focused on critical infrastructure, including drainage channels and road integrity, to understand why the heavy rainfall led to such severe traffic gridlock.
Engr. Umahi was joined by a team of engineers and officials who assessed the condition of the bridge and surrounding areas. His visit signals a collaboration between the federal and state governments to find a lasting solution to the city’s recurring flooding problems.
The findings from the inspection are expected to inform a strategic plan to prevent future gridlock and improve the resilience of Lagos’s road network.
