Traffic is now easing on the Third Mainland Bridge, inward Oworonshoki, after a major protest caused a significant gridlock this morning.
Residents affected by a recent demolition in the Oworonshoki area had blocked the bridge, demanding justice and an end to forced evictions.
According to a traffic update issued at 3:23 p.m., security agencies, including the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and the Police, successfully dispersed the protesters.
Officers from both agencies took control of the road, clearing the way for vehicles to move freely.
The protest, which had caused heavy congestion on a busy Monday, has been brought to a close. Commuters and motorists who were previously advised to use alternative routes can now expect a gradual restoration of normal traffic flow.
The swift action by security and traffic agencies ensured that the disruption did not last throughout the day, allowing the key Lagos artery to reopen to the public.
