The Nigerian Army’s 9 Brigade in Ikeja has handed over 36-year-old Animashaun Khalid to the Lagos State Police Command for impersonating an Army Major.
Soldiers arrested Khalid at Arena Market, Oshodi, after discovering a forged Nigerian Army identity card bearing his name and the rank of Major.
The suspect was promptly transferred to the police in a smooth operation, highlighting strong collaboration between security agencies.
The case is now under investigation by Special Squad I, which aims to uncover the source of the forged ID, identify any accomplices, and determine if Khalid used the fake identity to commit other crimes. Once the investigation is complete, the case will proceed to court.
Commissioner of Police Olohundare Jimoh praised the Army for their quick action and emphasized the importance of teamwork among security forces in fighting crime.
He urged Lagos residents to stay vigilant and report suspicious activities, assuring the public that security agencies will continue to work together to keep Lagos safe.
