The resurrection of Enron is already making headlines, but not for the reasons CEO Connor Gaydos might have hoped.
On Thursday, as Gaydos entered a building in New York City, an unidentified individual hurled a pie directly at his face. The act, captured on video, has since gone viral, fueling discussions online.
Enron, synonymous with one of the largest corporate scandals in history, ceased operations in 2007 after its infamous bankruptcy.
This December, the company made a surprising comeback announcement, appointing Gaydos as CEO. He joins a leadership team featuring COO Magan Redino, CTO Daniel Wong, and General Counsel Rich Sybert.
While the pie incident has left Gaydos red-faced (and perhaps a little sticky), it’s become a symbolic moment, with some calling it “desserted justice” for Enron’s troubled legacy. Whether this marks a new chapter or just another scandal remains to be seen.
