Scott McTominay, and Romelu Lukaku were on target for Napoli in a 2-0 win over Cagliari which earned them the 2024-25 Serie A League title on Friday.
Antonio Conte’s side held a one point lead over second-placed Inter Milan ahead of the last game of the season as Simone Inzaghi’s side travelled to Como.
McTominay scored a spectacular scissor-kick volley just before halftime to give Napoli the lead at the Diego Maradona Stadium.
Romelu Lukaku added the second goal with a composed finish in the 51st minute to set Napoli on their way to a fourth league title, their second in three years.
Inter Milan recorded a 2-0 away win against Como but it was too little too late as Napoli earned a vital victory to emerge champions.
Antonio Conte has now won his fifth Serie A title after winning three at Juventus, one at Inter Milan.
Scott McTominay was named the Best Overall Player in Serie A for the 2024-25 season.
Conte is now one of only two coaches to have won the Serie A title at three different clubs, following in the footsteps of Fabio Capello after his victories at Juventus, Inter and Napoli.
The former Chelsea manager admitted that Napoli were under intense pressure in the title race.
Conte said: “It happened again, and it’s something wonderful. When we got to the stadium, it was honestly difficult to get in, as I don’t know how many people were there. I had a slight thought, if we let these people down, it’d be something we carried with us for a long time.
“These lads were fantastic, it wasn’t easy, as the pressure on us was insane, but we faced the game in the best way. It has been an extraordinary campaign and the lads deserve the credit for wanting to challenge themselves again, especially those who won two years ago and then finished 10th last season.
“It was certainly the most unexpected, difficult and stimulating challenge of my career. To come to Napoli after 10th place and try to get everything back on track, as it had all rather smashed up last season, and convincing some of the best players to remain because we could do something positive.
The goal against Cagliari was McTominay’s 11th goal in 33 Serie A appearances, along with six assists, a personal best for the Scotland international.
