Mcdonald’s worker reveals customers who greet them may be ignored

A McDonald’s worker has sparked reactions online after revealing a common drive-thru habit that could cause customers to be ignored.

The TikTok user, known as @maccaworkaddict, posted a video describing how some customers immediately shout “hello” as soon as they reach the intercom.

In the video, she explained that such behavior is unnecessary and labeled it as “rude.”

McDonald’s staff are automatically alerted by a buzzing sound when a car arrives at the drive-thru, so there’s no need for customers to announce their presence.

The worker shared her frustration in a lighthearted clip, with the caption: “You can’t keep ignoring the car in the drive-thru because they screamed hello as soon as they get there.”

While some TikTok users agreed with her point of view, others criticized her stance. Responding to the backlash, she clarified that her videos are meant to be humorous and not to be taken seriously, according to the Irish Mirror.

However, she did note that if a customer has been waiting without being addressed, it’s reasonable to try and get the staff’s attention.

Other fast-food workers chimed in, with one commenting, “Each time they say hello, I make them wait another 10 seconds.” Another former Burger King employee said, “I hated when customers would yell the moment I put the headset on.”

On the flip side, some users explained that they say “hello” out of uncertainty, unsure if the staff knows they’ve arrived.
