Nollywood actress May Edochie is gradually finding closure as her divorce proceedings with estranged husband and actor Yul Edochie continue to advance. Her legal representative, prominent human rights lawyer Emeka Ugwuonye, recently offered an update on the case that has gripped fans of the Edochie family since 2022.
Recall that the couple’s marital crisis began when Yul Edochie publicly introduced actress Judy Austin as his second wife in April 2022. That revelation, coupled with the announcement of their child’s birth, sent shockwaves across social media and sparked widespread criticism.
In August 2023, May filed for divorce, citing adultery as grounds and seeking N100 million in damages from Judy Austin, whom she accused of intruding into her marriage.
In a detailed Facebook post, Emeka Ugwuonye disclosed that “significant strides have been made in the divorce proceedings, with both parties reaching an agreement on key issues.”
While the legal battle is not completely over, there appears to be a light at the end of the tunnel. “A working arrangement is now in place,” Ugwuonye noted, indicating progress in the once-contentious separation. However, he confirmed that “the issue of damage against Judy Austin for her adultery with Yul remains pending.”
Beyond the courtrooms and headlines, May is reportedly taking her personal life in stride. Ugwuonye further shared that “May has no intention to remarry and remains unbothered about the timing of her divorce.”
As fans continue to send her messages of support, May Edochie appears to be focused on healing, rebuilding, and prioritizing her peace in the midst of a very public breakup.
