Former UK Prime Minister Liz Truss sparked controversy when she questioned the ability of the US. Vice President Kamala Harris to lead the country.

In a recent interview, Liz Truss criticised Kamala Harris while pronouncing her first name wrongly for being unfit to rule the country, stating her concerns over her unremarkable political experience and her leadership capacities.

When questioned if America has a problem with women in power, Truss told Fox News, ”No I don’t, I think there have been some brilliant American women in politics but I don’t think Kamala Harris is one of them.

She particularly condemned the Vice president’s handling of immigration issues at the southern border, claiming, “It is now at crisis point”.

Along with her doubts about Harris’ chances of securing the Democratic nominee in light of President Joe Biden’s abrupt resignation from the contest, Truss also noted that Harris has a lot of support inside the party even though she has not won the nomination.

Blaming “identity politics” for Harris’ popularity, Truss predicted a major backlash against the current party. “We shouldn’t care if they are a woman, we should be caring if they can do the job and she has not proven as vice president that she can do the job and I think we are going to see a situation similar to what we saw in the UK, I think there would be a landslide against the incumbent party because they have not delivered for the American people”, she concluded.

According to a recent survey, Harris and Trump are currently separated by just two percentage points in a close contest. Truss’ remarks worsen an already fierce political discussion in the US as the election draws near.
