The management of Lagos State University (LASU) has strongly condemned and distanced itself from a viral video titled “Bandits Prank on Lasuites,” which caused widespread fear and panic on campus.
The video, created and uploaded by Datreez Entertainment TV on Friday, December 5, 2025, showed individuals dressed in a way that mimicked bandits or terrorists entering the university campus. The action prompted immediate distress among students and staff.
LASU categorically stated that it gave no approval, authorization, or endorsement for the video’s recording. The actions of Datreez Entertainment TV constituted unauthorized filming on the campus, which the university described as unacceptable.
The institution does not support or encourage any content that suggests banditry, terrorism, or violent extremism, especially with the current national security challenges facing Nigeria. The university emphasized that the so-called “prank” incited fear and disrupted campus peace.
LASU remains committed to maintaining a safe, secure, and peaceful learning environment. Members of the community are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities promptly to the LASU Security Unit.
