The Lagos State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in the fight against cultism, arresting five suspected cult members following a violent clash in the Onireke and Isashi areas of the state.
Swift Police Action Foils Further Attacks
The arrests followed a brutal conflict between rival cult groups that occurred around 10:00 PM on October 4, 2025. Tactical operatives of the Command quickly responded to the distress call, which prevented the violence from escalating further.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that three victims had been injured. All three were rushed to the hospital; however, sadly, one victim was later confirmed dead at Badagry General Hospital.
Suspects Nabbed at Local Hotel
An immediate and thorough raid was conducted by a joint police team across the entire area. This effort quickly led to the arrest of the five suspects, identified as Victor Christian (43), Samuel Success (29), Balogun Emmanuel (43), Wisdom Chukwuemeka (28), and Oche Job (39), at a local hotel. They are believed to be directly responsible for the attack and the death of the victim.
Weapons and Vehicle Seized
A search of the suspects and their operational vehicle led to the recovery of a significant cache of weapons. Exhibits recovered include:
- One locally-made pistol
- Two pump-action guns
- Fifty-two live cartridges and two expended cartridges
- One Toyota Avalon vehicle
- One cutlass and various electronic items
All recovered items have been documented and registered as exhibits for the ongoing investigation.
Investigation and Public Safety Assurances
The five suspects are currently in police custody. They will be charged in court once the investigation is complete.
Police patrol teams and tactical squads have been deployed to the affected area, which is now under close surveillance to prevent any reprisal attacks and ensure public safety.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the operatives’ swift and professional response. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to completely stamping out cultism in the state and urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately.
