Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced the state’s readiness to partner with Georgia, United States, across several key sectors.
Speaking at the US–Nigeria Policy and Trade Forum in Atlanta, the Governor invited investors to take advantage of the opportunities in Lagos.
Governor Sanwo-Olu told a forum of lawmakers and business leaders that Lagos wants to create a sister-city framework with Atlanta.
He noted that both cities share similarities as major hubs for logistics, technology, and culture.
The Governor highlighted that Atlanta’s strengths in agribusiness, film, and technology align with Lagos’s strategic priorities.
He emphasized that the partnership would deepen ties between the two cities for trade and policy collaboration.
Sanwo-Olu described Lagos as an economic powerhouse, generating over 30 per cent of Nigeria’s GDP.
He noted that the state has already attracted billions of dollars in foreign investment, making it a dominant investment destination.
He also spoke on the state’s infrastructure projects, including the Lagos Rail Mass Transit and the Lekki Deep Seaport, which are positioning Lagos as a global city.
The Governor reaffirmed that Lagos is a leader in technology, home to over 2,500 startups and numerous unicorns.
