Veteran Nollywood actress Kate Henshaw has delivered a fiery yet graceful response to a social media troll who tried to shame her by digging up a painful chapter from her past relationship with late gospel singer Sammie Okposo.
The incident began when the troll resurfaced an old news post detailing Henshaw’s revelation that she had endured physical abuse during her relationship with Okposo, which reportedly lasted about three to four years in the early 2000s. The relationship, once the subject of industry gossip, ended years before Okposo’s eventual marriage and passing in 2022.
In a sharp and personal jab, the troll took to Twitter to insult the actress, questioning her relationship history and taking aim at her marital status. The post read:
“Aunty Kate, I heard someone say that you’re just a bitter old ‘agbaya’ woman because you’ve been let down by men too many times and ended up ‘husbandless’. Is that true?”
Kate, never one to shy away from confrontation or to let hate slide, responded with poise and punch. Admitting to the truth of the relationship and the abuse she endured, she made it clear that the experience had only made her stronger, not sour.
“Awwww, I am still here, though. These things happen, and I am better not bitter. Can’t say the same for the females in your family. I saw one at farmcity the other night. I hope the pay she brought home fed the family for the night, though. I am good, to be honest. Next…..”
Her clapback quickly garnered attention and applause from fans and fellow celebrities, many of whom praised her resilience, class, and ability to stand tall in the face of online bullying.
Kate Henshaw remains one of Nollywood’s most respected figures, known not only for her acting talent but also for her unfiltered honesty and unshakable self-worth. Once again, she’s shown that no amount of trolling can dim her light.
