Controversial street-hop sensation, Portable, has defeated fellow entertainer Speed Darlington in a dramatic boxing match that lived up to the hype at the Balmoral Convention Centre, Lagos, on Saturday morning.
The highly anticipated bout, tagged “Chaos In The Ring,” came to an abrupt end in the first round after Speed Darlington, also known as “Akpi,” reportedly broke his hand and quit the match. This handed Portable an easy victory and bragging rights as the stronger fighter.
The celebrity boxing match was the climax of weeks of heated back-and-forth between the two eccentric artists. It all began when Speed Darlington allegedly offered Portable ₦500,000 to perform at his show, an offer the Zazu crooner rejected as an insult to his brand.
“You’re using my name to promote your show and offering ₦500k? I don’t roll with poor people,” Portable ranted in a viral video, insisting that his performance fee is ₦20 million.
Speed Darlington, visibly enraged by Portable’s remarks, fired back, accusing him of being disrespectful and for dragging his mother into the mess. The tension boiled over during the weigh-in, where both artists exchanged punches before bouncers intervened.
In typical brash fashion, Portable had vowed to crush Speed Darlington, referencing his earlier victory over actor Charles Okocha in a similar match. “I’ll finish you. Let’s go now! I’ve done it before—I beat Charles Okocha, and I’ll do it again,” he had declared confidently.
It finally happened in the ring. Portable came out swinging with energy, while Akpi struggled to keep up before ultimately injuring himself and bowing out.
Once again, Portable proved he’s not just talk, he’s action. He kept to his words and did it again!
