Is Chou Tzuyu the Princess of Taiwan? Archery Video Goes Viral

As the Paris Olympics 2024 engages the world with exciting events, an unexpected viral sensation has emerged from an old clip of an archery competition The video in question was taken from the 2018 South Korean Idol Star Athletics Championships (ISAC).

It features Chou Tzuyu, a part of the popular TWICE K-pop group. A Twitter user recently reuploaded the video with the handle @ayeejuju and wrote, “Who is this???” The post in question has gotten over 20 million views, which caused great interest among viewers.

Who is Chou Tzuyu?

Born in Tainan, Taiwan – Chou Tzuyu rose to fame after being inspired by performing arts by her parents who also helped her fund it. Her discovery began when she auditioned for the South Korean entertainment company JYP Entertainment where she earned her chance to be a part of the famous K-pop group TWICE.

The group consist of members Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, and Chaeyoung, this seven-membered girl group was formed after participating in the reality show “Sixteen” and became an international sensation with their songs “Cheer Up,” “TT,” and “Fancy.

Recently, JYP Entertainment stated that Tzuyu will be releasing her mini-album which includes solo songs and that the mini-album will be called “aboutTZU”. The teaser video of the song involves Tzuyu dressed in a satin blue gown which has already created immense hype and excitement.

Chou Tzuyu’s Viral Archery Video

The video that went viral features a talent show where Tzuyu performs at archery while being part of the ISAC competition which is a sports tournament solely for K-pop stars.

Although the video is several years old, it has re-emerged due to the current Olympics where some fans confused it with actual footage of a South Korean Olympic athlete. Due to this confusion, many more people have been attracted to the clip, especially, new spectators who cannot believe Tzuyu can shoot arrows like that.

ISAC is a live event broadcasted for a long time with sections showcasing K-pop idols’ athletic feats, and it has included archery as a sport. Tzuyu has displayed great talent in the sport and people have taken the time to share the video on social networks.

Clearing Up the Confusion

While Chou Tzuyu’s viral archery video has certainly captured the attention of many, especially during the Paris Olympics 2024, she is not actually an Olympic athlete. Tzuyu, who hails from Taiwan, is best known as a member of the K-pop group TWICE, not a competitor in the Olympics.
