Ultimate Guide to the Best Beaches in Lagos, Nigeria

December 29, 2025
Load More

One of the most prominent and important features of Ilashe is its exotic beach houses. Next is the boat rides, and then the serenity of the beach, which gives you the best experience of the place.

The best time to visit the beach is during the weekend or on holidays when a lot of people come around to have fun. However, if you want something more private, you can go on weekdays.

The beach is located on Snake Island off the Lagos coast along Badagry Creek. It divides the Atlantic Ocean and Lagos Lagoon. The best time to visit Ilashe is during the weekend and on holidays when a lot of people come around to have a good time.

Location: Ilashe Beach, LGA, Lagos, Nigeria.

Timings: Monday -Sunday, Open 24 hours.

Gate fee: There are no entrance fees for Ilashe beach. But you’ll have to pay to use any of the facilities inside the beach.

How To Get To Ilashe Beach

Ilashe Beach is on an Island, so you cannot get there by land. This means the only way to get to Ilashe is by boat.

You’ll take a 20-30-minute boat ride from Lekki or Victoria Island. You can do this by booking the Jetty at any of these places. Ensure you book the boat days before your visit.

Note, hiring a luxury boat to this place can cost anything from NGN 50,000 upwards. While the “banana boats’’ that ferry people to the beach are much cheaper options, you could always opt for a speed boat or yacht to arrive there in style.

Speed boats cost NGN 70,000 to NGN 500,000. The price depends on the type of boat, its capacity, and if you will be staying overnight.

Quick Tips For Visiting Ilashe

If you’re visiting Ilashe Beach for the first time, these are some tips that’ll make the trip a smooth one.

1. Bring your food and drinks. There are no restaurants on the beach. So, take everything you need to eat with you.

2. Book a boat and beach house on time.

3. Get to the jetty to Ilashe 30 minutes before departure time.

4. If you can, avoid visiting the beach during the rainy season. This is so that you don’t get caught in the middle of the Lagoon while it’s raining or be marooned on the Island due to a storm.

5. Use organizations not individuals to book a boat.

6. Leave the beach on time before the day gets dark.

7. Avoid swimming at the beach if you are not a skilled swimmer. The current there is stronger than at other beaches.

8. Stay safe.

Ilashe Beach Reviews

When you step onto the Island, the tranquillity of Ilashe will leave you craving more. The gentle breeze and the quietness settle you. Life at this private beach is devoid of the city’s noise and is on another level.

Most people who have visited Ilashe Beach have a lot to say about its clean air, lush green environment and crystal white sand. But what are some other reviews about this private beach that may be helpful to first-timers? Read them below:

1. Best Location For Private Beach Parties

Ilashe Beach is the best location to hold private beach parties or escape for the weekend. The beach is cool and beautiful.

2. Enough Accommodations

There are a lot of beach houses on Ilashe Island you can rent for a night or weekend getaway. You can get to several jetties on VI to rent a boat. Just remember to stock up on provisions and arrange for drop-offs and pickups.

3. Clean And Peaceful

The ocean is beautiful, clean, and peaceful. For much-needed alone time from the rest of the world, sitting beside the ocean is your best option. While other beaches are teeming with people, this one is not usually full.

4. Every Service Is Paid For

Note, that every service rendered here is paid for. There is a car that takes you to the beach houses from the entrance. Although the accommodation is not far from the gate.

Go with friends or family, pack food and drinks too. There is no full privacy because there are other residents staying at the beach. But when you’re inside your beach house, no one will bother you.
