New Afrika Shrine is an extension of the Kalakuta Museum, it is the place where Fela Anikulapo Kuti created Afrobeat. Fela’s legacy is continually celebrated by performances at this spot by top and upcoming Nigerian artists.

Afrika Shine is where Kuti sang his politically-charged songs for spectators when he was alive. While it is a musical centre, it is also a community hub where people go to discuss cultural and political issues. The Shrine is used to rehabilitate and engage the low-income; taking them from the streets to give them jobs and education.
