The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) shared an image on its X and Facebook pages that has caught the attention of many Nigerians.
The graphic shows what people often think the agency focuses on, Yahoo boys, or internet fraudsters, and what it actually targets.
The real list includes anticipatory asset declaration, procurement fraud, tax fraud, recovering stolen funds, sextortion, extractive industry fraud, investment fraud, ending corruption, ending Naira abuse, ending all economic and financial crimes, ending bribery, Ponzi schemes, capital market fraud, crime prevention strategies, money laundering, cyber crimes, cyber terrorism, virtual asset fraud, and pipeline vandalism.

The post aimed to clear up misunderstandings about the EFCC’s work. It used the agency’s eagle symbol to make the point simple and clear. Many saw it as a way to show that the EFCC fights a wide range of crimes, not just one type.
People reacted quickly on both platforms.
Some praised the EFCC for its efforts. One user on X said, “The eagle is relentless in the fight against financial and economic crimes.” Others supported the message, with comments like, “May all yahoo boys be caught, Amen?” showing agreement with cracking down on fraud.
However, many criticized the agency. They accused it of focusing too much on small time offenders while ignoring powerful people, like politicians.
A popular reply on X read, “Eagle wey dey do selective justice na domesticated pigeon be that,” meaning the agency picks and chooses who to target.
Another user posted, “But when you see corrupt politicians,” with an image implying the EFCC looks away from big cases.
On Facebook, similar views appeared. One comment stated, “We have Politicians looting the national treasures away, yet the Eagles seem not to bother.”
Another said, “The eagle is always blind whenever it comes to Politician Looting.”
Some reactions used humor or rhymes to make their points. One X user wrote a verse: “To chop public funds self na Calamity, E dey kill hospitals, roads, and our Humanity, But when na government officials, EFCC go give Immunity.” Others noted that joining certain political groups seems to protect people from investigation.
The post gained thousands of likes, reposts, and comments, with over 1.3 million views on X alone.
It highlights ongoing talks about fairness in Nigeria’s fight against corruption.
