The star-studded concert, held at the Umuahia Township Stadium on Friday night, featured Afrobeats heavyweight Davido, dancehall hitmaker Timaya, Five Star Music’s KCEE, and legendary highlife musician Bright Chimezie. The event marked the official launch of two new radio stations, Don 103.7 FM and Ikoro 93.3 FM established by Abia-born entrepreneur Lucky Igbokwe.
Music lovers from within and outside the city trooped en masse to witness the historic event, which turned the usually quiet capital into a pulsating centre of culture, music, and celebration.

Not long after, highlife veteran Bright Chimezie took over, delivering an unforgettable performance of his timeless classic Because of English. The instantly recognisable tune sparked a fresh wave of excitement in the crowd, as both the young and old danced and sang with nostalgic joy.
The chemistry between Davido and Bright Chimezie who were spotted together in Lagos just weeks before the show added an extra layer of excitement for fans. Their mutual respect and vibrant stage presence had many speculating about a possible collaboration between the two generations of music legends.
Inside the stadium, enthusiastic chants echoed as fans hailed Davido not just as a performer, but as “our in-law,” a nod to his marriage to Chioma, who hails from the Igbo ethnic group. The reception reinforced the artist’s strong cultural connection with the region.
