Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna Fires Back at Critics Over MAGA Swimsuit Pics
Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna is not taking any insults after an old video of her wearing a MAGA-themed swimsuit was recently shared on social media.
The video from as far back as 2016 captures the Republican lawmaker wearing a blue one-piece swimming suit with trunks branded ‘Make America Great Again’ with reference to Trump’s presidential campaign.
The 35-year-old representative who is serving her first term in the House of Representatives since last year did not shy away from the issue.
Luna took to social media to address the buzz, criticizing people for resurfacing the footage and asserting her unapologetic support for Trump.
“The left is attempting to make this a thing yet can’t define a woman. Very low IQ behaviour. Get over it,” Luna tweeted, underlining the critique with sarcasm and energized tone.
She then posted another tweet that reads, “I’m confirming that I have indeed worn swimsuits and you can tell I am biologically a woman,” adding the hashtag #MAGA to the tweet.
Luna, also, previously worked as a model and posed for the magazines such as Sports Illustrated and Maxim before her venture into politics.
She stated that she designed swimwear and women’s shirts before joining Congress, indicating that she was an entrepreneur when she dismissed the criticism.
The video, which was filmed in the summer of 2016, shows Luna wearing a MAGA swimsuit complemented with white knee-high socks, a fashion that MAGA fans started to embrace in the year and that later popularized.
The swimsuit, which was selling for $39. 95, was used by followers of Trump’s campaign as the symbol of their support.
People’s reactions to the video that circulated on the internet were rather diverse.
Some social media users applauded Luna with one even going as far as referring to Luna as the ”hotness member of Congress”.
Ginger Gaetz, the wife of Republican Rep, Matt Gaetz also endorsed Luna and posted more pictures of Luna by the beach, and commended her for single-handedly reviving the Women Crush Wednesday’s hashtag on social media platforms.
However, the responses were not all positive.
Opposition arose from different sources, such as another Christian activist Morgan Ariel who showed her discontent: “Anna Paulina Luna is a married congresswoman with children and still can’t help but dishonor her family and the country by stripping down half naked for the world to see. Please don’t claim she’s a Christian either.”
