A passenger on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos, identified as Comfort Emmanson, has been charged to court and remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Centre following a disruptive incident on Sunday.
The news was confirmed by Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, in a post on X.
According to reports, Emmanson refused to comply with safety instructions to switch off her mobile phone before takeoff.
This led to a confrontation with the flight crew, which escalated upon landing in Lagos.
Videos circulating online show Emmanson physically assaulting a flight attendant and engaging in aggressive behavior toward airport security officials.
Ibom Air has since imposed a lifetime ban on her from flying with the airline, citing the serious threat her actions posed to the safety of passengers, crew, and the aircraft.
Moshood’s statement emphasized the need for passengers to follow aviation safety rules, warning, “The flying public should be more careful.”
