A bus traveling from Chicago crashed off a Green Bay freeway Sunday afternoon, injuring dozens of people.
The vehicle was carrying 54 passengers toward a destination in Michigan when the accident occurred.
According to WBAY, the bus was exiting Interstate 43 just before 3 p.m.
The driver lost control while attempting to navigate the exit ramp.
The bus left the roadway and crashed through a steep embankment.
It finally came to a rest in an industrial area between two warehouses.
Green Bay Fire Department Battalion Chief Chad Bronkhorst addressed the media at the scene.
He confirmed that emergency crews transported 33 people to nearby hospitals.
At least two of those passengers suffered critical injuries in the wreck.
While many were hurt, no deaths have been reported at this time.
The Green Bay Fire Department worked quickly to triaged the large number of victims.
Multiple ambulances were called to the scene to handle the high volume of patients.
Officials say the bus was significantly damaged after plummeting down the embankment.
The identities of the passengers have not yet been released to the public.
Wisconsin officials are currently leading the investigation into the cause of the crash.
It remains unclear if weather conditions or mechanical failure played a role in the accident.
The area around the I-43 exit remained closed for several hours as crews cleared the wreckage.
