Captain of Nigeria’s senior national football team, Ahmed Musa, has once again made headlines this time, not for his exploits on the pitch, but for a significant personal milestone. On Friday, the football star married his fourth wife, Asmau Moriki, in Kano State, in what was described as a simple but classy wedding ceremony.
The Super Eagles forward, who played his first game for the national team in nearly two years during the ongoing Unity Cup in England, was noticeably absent from the squad’s final match against Jamaica. His absence was not due to injury or fitness concerns, but rather for a far more personal reason.
According to OwnGoalNigeria, Musa left the Super Eagles camp shortly after the 2-1 victory over Ghana, where he featured as a substitute for over 30 minutes, a performance that helped Nigeria secure a spot in the final. However, he returned to Nigeria immediately after the match to formalize his union with Moriki. A post-wedding dinner is also planned for Sunday in his honor.
The 31-year-old forward is no stranger to making bold personal choices. Moriki now joins Juliet Ejue and Miriam, whom Musa married in 2021, as his co-wives. Musa’s first marriage to Jemila ended in 2017, after which he married his other wives in succession.
A devout Muslim, Musa has often cited his faith and cultural values in his decisions surrounding marriage and family. Off the pitch, the former Leicester City and CSKA Moscow winger has also proven to be a savvy businessman. He has invested heavily in real estate, oil, and recreational centers with properties spread across Kaduna, Abuja, Kano, Lagos, and even the United States, where his second wife Juliet resides.
Musa remains one of Nigeria’s most decorated footballers and respected sports ambassadors. His career achievements include multiple World Cup appearances, a record as Nigeria’s all-time top scorer at the FIFA World Cup, and league titles in Russia and Saudi Arapbia.
While fans may be disappointed by his absence in the Unity Cup final, many have taken to social media to wish him well in his new marital journey.
