Chicago police arrested a 63-year-old man following a shooting in the Back of the Yards neighborhood.
Authorities identified the suspect as Dennis White.
The incident occurred early Sunday morning in the 4500 block of South Wood Street.

Police responded to the scene at approximately 12:07 a.m. on March 22, 2026.
Dispatchers received several reports of shots fired in the area.
Emergency crews rushed to the scene after reports indicated a man was shot in the stomach.
Officers found a 42-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was injured during the 9th District confrontation and required medical attention.
Investigators worked quickly to track down the person responsible for the gunfire.
Members of the Chicago Police Department located White in the same block where the shooting took place.
He was placed into custody at 12:47 a.m., just forty minutes after the initial shots were fired.
Prosecutors have now charged White with one felony count of Aggravated Battery/Discharge of a Firearm.
The Chicago Police Department has not released further details regarding a motive for the shooting.
White is scheduled to appear for a detention hearing on March 24, 2026.
The hearing will take place at the courthouse located at 2600 S. California Avenue.
This remains an active investigation as local authorities monitor the victim’s recovery.
