Chicago police are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the Garfield Park neighborhood earlier this week.
The victim has been identified as 23-year-old Taeshaun Conic.
Gunfire erupted around 11:40 a.m. on Wednesday morning.
The incident took place in the 4100 block of West Adams Street.
Conic was walking down the street when the shooter opened fire.
He suffered multiple gunshot wounds during the attack.
Emergency responders rushed Conic to Mount Sinai Hospital for urgent care.
Medical staff later pronounced him dead at the hospital.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office conducted an autopsy on Thursday.
Officials confirmed that Conic died from his gunshot injuries.
The office officially ruled the death a homicide.
No other injuries were reported during the incident.
Witnesses told police the shooter fled the scene heading west.
As of this report, the shooter remains at large and is not in custody.
Area 4 detectives are currently leading the murder investigation.
