Chicago police charged a Schaumburg woman with attempted murder following a violent shooting in the Austin neighborhood Friday night.
Authorities identified the suspect as 43-year-old Alexis Dumas.
The incident began around 8:30 p.m. in the 800 block of North Latrobe Avenue.
Police say Dumas shot and injured a 39-year-old woman during the encounter.
Investigators report the gunfire also struck an occupied vehicle.
The victim’s current medical condition has not been released by officials.
Officers from the 15th District responded to the scene and immediately began a search for the shooter.
Approximately two hours later, police located Dumas in the 5300 block of West Chicago Avenue.
She was taken into custody without further incident at 10:34 p.m.
Dumas now faces a long list of serious felony charges.
The most severe charge is one felony count of first-degree attempted murder.
She is also charged with aggravated battery of a peace officer.
Additional counts include aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Police also cited her for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon without a FOID card.
