The 36-year-old woman found shot to death in her West Rogers Park home has been identified as Da’J Flowers.
Friends and family are struggling to process the loss of a woman they described as a “BossLadii.”
Police discovered Flowers on Friday morning inside her second-floor unit on the 6900 block of North Bell Avenue.
She was found with at least one gunshot wound to her abdomen and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The discovery followed a well-being check requested by a high-ranking city official after Flowers missed work.
She served as a Senior Administrative Assistant and formerly worked for the Chicago Department of Public Health.
Now, those who knew her are filling social media with tributes to her vibrant spirit and ambition.
“No matter when or where I saw you, you was smiling and enjoying life living it to the fullest,” one friend wrote.
“I’m so sorry this happened to you… we literally watched you grow from a little girl to a beautiful young woman,” they added.
Another loved one expressed the deep shock felt by the ABLA community following the news.
“I’m praying for all of your friends… this is such a tragic loss and we’re all very saddened,” the post read.
One close friend recalled their younger years, describing Flowers as “smart and ambitious.”
“Always been about school, money, loving life,” she wrote, adding that Flowers nicknamed her “Diana Ross.”
A family member shared their intense pain, writing, “MF really took my Niecy-Pooh away from me. I’m so hurt.”
They noted they had been calling Flowers all morning, never expecting such a tragedy.
Others spoke of a “bond between a group that loves each other unconditionally” that has now been broken.
“I’m lost sis, super lost… I never not ever imagined I’d be writing this,” another friend shared.
The calls for “Justice ASAP” are growing louder as police continue to investigate the shooting.
A family friend described the scene at “Ms. Clark’s house” as people gathered to support the grieving mother.
“Losing her daughter Da’J has torn her down and the family,” she said, asking for prayers for the entire “village.”
Some tributes directly addressed the unknown killer, calling the person a “coward” for fleeing the scene.
“He shot you and left you… he knew you being the BossLadii you were wasn’t gone stop,” one sister wrote.
She added that Flowers was “elevating her life” and “brightening her shine” before the attack.
Another friend said she would miss Flowers’ guidance, saying, “You ALWAYS had the answers to everything.”
“I can’t stop crying, feels like a dream… I love you,” the tribute concluded.

The 6900 block of North Bell Avenue is known for its quiet condo complexes and long-term residents.
However, the ABLA community, where Flowers had many deep connections, has frequently dealt with the impact of gun violence.
Friends noted that Flowers had successfully built a career within the city’s government infrastructure.
Homicides inside secured residential buildings in West Rogers Park are extremely rare and have put neighbors on high alert.
Alderman Debra Silverstein confirmed that police from the 24th District are actively investigating the North Side killing.
Cook County Crimestoppers is currently offering a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest.
