A violent robbery on a CTA Red Line train left a young passenger injured early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred around 12:50 a.m. in the 1500 block of North Clybourn near Goose Island.
Police say a 23-year-old man was riding the train when a stranger approached him.
The suspect began shouting profanities before punching the victim with closed fists.
After the initial attack, the offender grabbed the victim’s personal belongings.
The victim followed the suspect off the train and onto the platform to retrieve his items.
At that point, the attacker struck the man again and stole even more property.

The victim suffered minor injuries during the struggle, and the suspect fled the scene on foot.
Investigators describe the offender as a Black male, standing between 5’7″ and 5’9″ tall.
He was seen wearing a dark leather jacket with fur lining, light jeans, and a camouflage mask.
Police are urging commuters to stay alert and use emergency buttons if they feel unsafe.
