A Chicago man used his legal firearm to stop an armed robbery early Tuesday morning on the city’s Northwest Side.
The incident took place around 2:40 a.m. in the 5200-block of West Montana Street.
A 39-year-old man was getting out of his vehicle when two men approached him on foot.
One of the suspects pulled out a handgun and demanded the man’s personal belongings.
The victim, who holds a valid Illinois concealed-carry license (CCL), drew his own weapon.
He fired at the suspects, striking one of them.
Chicago Police arrived on the scene and quickly took both suspects into custody.
The wounded suspect was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital and is reported to be in good condition.
The second suspect was detained at the scene without further incident.
Detectives from Area Five are currently investigating the shooting.
No charges have been announced at this time.
