Authorities have identified a 68-year-old man found shot to death inside his south suburban home on Friday evening.
Oak Forest police responded to a call for an unresponsive person in the 15000 block of Sunset Avenue around 6:20 p.m.
Officers arrived to find Michael Arnold, a local resident, dead at the scene.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Arnold died from multiple gunshot wounds.
His death has been officially ruled a homicide.

The Oak Forest Police Investigations Unit and the South Suburban Major Crimes Unit are now leading a joint investigation.
Arnold was a well-known figure in the Great Dane community, where he was affectionately known as “Alpine Mike.”
The Illini Great Dane Club honored Arnold as a lifetime member and offered condolences to his family.

Friends and fellow dog show enthusiasts described Arnold as a kind, wonderful man who brightened the lives of those around him.
No suspects are currently in custody, and police have not yet released a motive for the shooting.
