Authorities have identified and arrested Raul Gutierrez for allegedly stealing an assault rifle from a federal vehicle.
The incident occurred in Minneapolis and was captured on video by independent journalist Nick Sortor.
The footage shows individuals breaking into a weapons locker inside the trunk of an FBI vehicle.
Initially, some observers believed the vehicle belonged to ICE, but it has since been confirmed as an FBI unit.
Sortor confirmed the suspect’s identity as 33-year-old Raul Gutierrez after speaking with the Department of Justice.
Federal agents from the ATF, DOJ, and FBI reportedly worked together to execute the arrest warrant quickly.
Gutierrez is reportedly a member of the Latin Kings gang and possesses a lengthy criminal record.
He is currently being held without bail by the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office for probable theft involving a weapon.
Records list Gutierrez as a resident of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota.
The theft occurred during a period of high tension in Minneapolis following recent federal agent-involved shootings.
One day prior, an ICE agent opened fire during an arrest after reportedly coming under attack.
Public anxiety remains high following the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good by an ICE agent earlier this month.
