A Plainfield man and convicted felon will remain behind bars after Naperville police allegedly found a loaded handgun in his glovebox.
Deion Kidd, 30, was denied pre-trial release Monday morning following his arrest during a weekend traffic stop.
Naperville police officers first noticed Kidd’s vehicle around 11:20 p.m. on Saturday, January 10.
Officers pulled the vehicle over near Diehl Road after noticing illegal window tints and a sudden lane change.
Police say they saw Kidd making “sudden movements” toward the glovebox and the back seat as they approached.
During the stop, officers spotted a cup of clear liquid on the floorboard that smelled like alcohol.
When police tried to search the glovebox, Kidd allegedly pulled his arm away and resisted the officers.
Inside the glovebox, police discovered a loaded Glock 46 handgun.
A bottle of tequila was also found in the trunk of the vehicle, according to prosecutors.
Kidd now faces felony charges for unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and resisting a police officer.
DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin noted that Kidd had forfeited his right to own a gun due to his criminal history.
Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres praised his officers for taking another illegal firearm off the streets.
Kidd is scheduled to return to court on February 2, 2026, for his next hearing.
Under the law, Kidd is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
