A GoFundMe campaign for the family of Renee Nicole Good has raised over $1.4 million in just two days.
Good, 37, was shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent on Jan. 7 in Minneapolis.
The shooting happened while Good was inside her Honda SUV in a residential neighborhood south of downtown.
The GoFundMe campaign aims to support Good’s wife and 6-year-old son following the tragedy.
By Jan. 9, more than 36,000 people from across the globe had donated to the fund.
Donors from Canada, the U.K., Italy, and Germany have left messages of support for the family.
President Donald Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem stated the agent acted in self-defense.
However, eyewitness videos of the encounter have sparked widespread public outrage and claims that the shooting was unwarranted.
The Minneapolis City Council released a statement saying Good was “caring for her neighbors” when her life was taken.
Good was a mother of three and a poet who previously hosted a podcast in Colorado.
Her mother described her to the Minnesota Star Tribune as “extremely compassionate” and “an amazing human being.”
City Council member Jason Chavez confirmed he vetted the fundraiser and urged the public to support the family.
