A security guard is fighting for his life after being shot during an armed robbery at a Southwest Side bank on Tuesday morning.
According to the Chicago Fire Department (CFD), the shooting happened around 10:00 a.m. at the Chase Bank located in the 4300-block of South Archer Avenue in Brighton Park.
The victim, a 52-year-old armored truck guard, was working when the robbery unfolded.
During the encounter, the guard was shot in both legs.
Emergency crews rushed him to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he remains in serious condition.
Chicago Police have not yet released details regarding the suspects or exactly how much money was stolen.
Officers spent the morning canvassing the area for witnesses and security footage.
No other injuries were reported inside the bank. This remains an active investigation.
