Police have issued a community alert following an armed robbery on a CTA Red Line train in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood early Sunday morning.
The incident occurred on December 15, 2025, at approximately 3:30 a.m. in the 0-100 block of West 79th Street.
According to investigators from the 6th (Gresham) District, a group of seven individuals confronted a passenger and used a firearm to commit the robbery.
Police are searching for seven Black males. Notable clothing items identified from surveillance footage include:

A jacket with green, blue, and white sleeves.

A SpongeBob SquarePants jacket and torn jeans.

A Pittsburgh Pirates hat.

A red and black ski mask.

Black and gold gym shoes.
