A Saturday morning shooting led to a fatal car crash in Chicago’s Rosemoor neighborhood, leaving a young woman dead and a man fighting for his life.
The incident occurred just before 8:30 a.m. in the 200-block of East 103rd Street.
According to the Chicago Police, a 22-year-old woman was driving a dark blue Honda SUV westbound when another vehicle pulled alongside her.
An unidentified person inside that vehicle opened fire.
Following the gunfire, both vehicles continued down the street until the SUV lost control and slammed into a tree.
The shooter’s vehicle sped away from the scene immediately after the collision.
The female driver was rushed to Advocate Trinity Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
A 28-year-old male passenger in the SUV sustained serious injuries, including severe bruising from the impact.
Paramedics transported him to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition.
As of Saturday afternoon, no suspects are in custody.
Area Two detectives are currently leading the investigation.
Police have not yet released the identities of the victims or a description of the shooter’s vehicle.
