A 17-year-old boy was shot early Monday morning by a Chicago man with a valid Concealed Carry License (CCL) during an alleged attempted car burglary on the city’s South Side.
The incident occurred around 3:42 a.m. in the 9400-block of S. Indiana Avenue.
A 58-year-old man told police that he heard his car alarm and went outside, where he saw two people inside his parked vehicle. The car owner, who possesses valid FOID and CCL cards, reported that he fired his weapon after seeing one of the suspects pull out a gun.
The 17-year-old was struck in the right forearm and left knee. He was transported to a local hospital, and his condition is expected to be non-life-threatening.
The second suspect fled the scene on foot, then entered a gray minivan heading eastbound.
Chicago police reported no other injuries. No arrests have been made as the investigation continues.
